India’s history spans back to the beginning of human civilization. It began about 4500 years ago. The diversity of India in terms of culture, language, traditions, etc can be understood when we look closely at how this land has evolved through centuries.
History or Itihasa of India is prolonged yet fascinating. You can pick just one piece from the Indian history and you’ll find many different things unfolding within it. It is the Itihasa of India that made the present possible, which still quietly influences our everyday routine, dressing and practices, and allows us to take a peek into the future.
With our new collection, we stepped back into the Itihasa of India, and found various elements that were relevant to what we were trying to create with the help of our meticulous artisans. From heroic figures like Shoora (Hanuman) to Paintings of Ellora to practices of healing and meditation, we are amazed by the diversity of India’s culture as we learned and crafted this unique collection.
You can look up to all the artifacts of our Itihasa collection on our website. But, what we like to do here is to show you two artifacts which were inspired from two very different time-frames, cultures and locations.
Our Bodhi throw and duet covers convey serenity and peace through its intrinsic patterns. Bodhi means awakening or enlightenment. The Bodhi Tree was a large and ancient sacred fig located in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India. Siddhartha Gautam, later known as Buddha, attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree.
Inspired from traditional knowledge of ancient India; figures and places from Hindu and Buddhist mythology; celebrated festivals in India, and more, these mandala tapestries are hand-printed and crafted meticulously by skilled artisans and creative designers in our factory. All our artifacts are 100% cotton and prepared with natural dyes.
